The story was good. I got the sense that it is based upon the idea of either Nazi Germany or USSR Russia as the world government. No real freedom except for the elite and the secret security had unquestionable power, just like KGB or SS. The author also felt it necessary to repeat thing multiple times. Amazon says it is 1001 pages for the whole series, I bet there are at least 100 pages of statements that have been repeated 2,3, maybe even 4 times almost exactly the same way. That repetition got tiring really quick. The 'love story' part was just matter of fact. I just love at first sight for both, but don't really know. The way they travel around the galaxy isn't really explained and it doesn't seem to be constant. There are contradictions, case in point, there was a hole in the ship and they were being pursued by enemies and the ship was getting warnings because it was going to fall apart due to the hole, they killed the enemies and then put the ship to full power to get home fast, what happened to the ship falling apart from the speed?
Spoiler, this isn't all of the story. I guess another series called Lost Soldier is going to continue the story.
