When librarian Laura Griffin's sixteen-year-old sister disappears on a frigid February day, leaving only a brief note behind, Laura resolves to do whatever it takes to track down the runaway teen. That includes recruiting ATF agent turned PI James "Dev" Devlin to help. But the deeper he digs, the more he begins to suspect that something sinister is at work in the girl's disappearance. And the closer he gets to uncovering the truth, the clearer…
1st half – Laura and Dev was nice but not the main story. A lot more emphasis was on the run away kid Darcy and Mark. Slow book, 40% done and the story feels like we should be 70%. Afraid there is going to be a lot of useless scaring of the teen Darcy. Reading a series of books where the PI’s use blackberry phones and hold them while driving is funny. Bluetooth is so normal for me this is interesting.
2nd half was better but I was right. Just like the 1st book, to make it work the author had to have the great criminal do something out of character and not forced to bring the book to a conclusion. So it fell apart at the end.
