Gone without a trace

Nice book, but not the way I personally like mysteries. I like seeing everything through the eyes of the one trying to figure it out. I am not a fan of listening to the ramblings of the psychopath. Everyone in this book is seriously damaged. What a horrible world this author created here. Actually there were a few not screwed up. The partner at the beginning of the story, and the sheriff. Between the time she spent going over and over the damaged mindset of her characters and the ramblings of the psychopath she used up probably 60% of the... Continue Reading →

Acting Sheriff Ben Logan hasn't heard from Leigh Somerall in a very long time, but it doesn't mean he can get her—or their whirlwind romance of ten years ago—out of his head. When she calls out of the blue, it is with a strange request to protect her brother, Tony. When Tony dies just days later, Ben is charged with a different task—protecting Leigh and her nine-year-old son, TJ, from the killers. But how can…

2nd book in the series, not as good as 1st. Nice story and the characters were okay, but the main female character in reality was pretty selfish. She is suppose to care greatly for her son, but all she does is care about herself. Time and time again people have to remind her that she needs to care about the safety of her son, that shouldn't have to be reminded to a normal person. The main male character I thought was written well. He is suppose to be a really good cop, but around his 1st love, he can't think straight, that is understandable / believable. The story line with the villain was not nearly as good as the first book. Even when done with the book and she tells you who did it, I still didn't really see that person as being able to do this, or the other stuff that they were supposedly doing for months if not years. The supporting characters though were well done. Friends were actually friends.

Great Book, possible the best I have read this year so far.

Spoilers

At 43% I think it is the lawyer who killed Dad. Abby somehow found out and was killed, and it might be because of a crush on Mom. Taylor is looking into her dad. Jonathan could be it but doesn't fit as well. Zeke is a distraction.
At 64% it is mentioned that Pete has a great memory and been to places Taylor has been. Would have been too young to kill Dad. Are we looking at 2 different criminals.

I say this because she did an awesome job giving little tid-bits here and there on the case. You couldn't see everything too early but enough to keep going along with it. There are some other story lines that are hinted at in the book and I hope they are carried over into the next books if not the actual story.
