Nice book. It moved along at a nice pace. The story was well told with no unexpected mess-ups. They just kept going forward where the evidence lead them. Neat that the 2 main characters had worked with each other for a while but really didn't know each other. The mystery itself was well done, believable. digital loan from library read 3/2019
Very good book. I liked how she had it take weeks to come to a conclusion. I didn't figure out who did it, but since she felt it was necessary for the villian to give a complete rundown at the end to confess to everything, I don't think she wrote it having the reader figuring it out on their own.

Characters are great again, but I am over having a super criminal break from what they normally do so they can be caught. There is no mystery here. No suspense either. You have a God's eye view of what is going on. I think I am done reading her books, they so far have followed the same. I wonder if she really wants to write romance novels but that field is too crowded. Sorry thing is that she is really good at the romantic side, but the rest is blah.
Family Tree - Mom is Chief of Police. Dad is an attorney.
Derek (undercover) - (twins) - Izzy (detective 27yrs old) Chloe (K9)
Nice cop story. 1st 15 pages had me worried. A Lot of stuff thrown at you fast, setting up the lineage. It settled down after that and was nice. The love story part was understandable and behind the scenes. The story line was good but the final ending didn't seem plausible. First time criminal is the mastermind be a life time criminal master mind that hasn't been able to be caught even with the police looking at him for multiple crimes for a long time.
1st half - Laura and Dev was nice but not the main story. A lot more emphasis was on the run away kid Darcy and Mark. Slow book, 40% done and the story feels like we should be 70%. Afraid there is going to be a lot of useless scaring of the teen Darcy. Reading a series of books where the PI's use blackberry phones and hold them while driving is funny. Bluetooth is so normal for me this is interesting.
2nd half was better but I was right. Just like the 1st book, to make it work the author had to have the great criminal do something out of character and not forced to bring the book to a conclusion. So it fell apart at the end.
It was good. It was well laid out. Days passed between paragraphs which made it realistic. The slow uncovering was nice. No trying to throw the audience off with weird stuff. But with the way she did the story I don't think it would make sense with mis-directions.
